Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum has pleaded with opposition politicians and other groups involved in perceived hate speeches and inciting statements against Delta State Government to stop forthwith in the interest of peace and development of the state.

The traditional rulers made the plea in a communiqué delivered by the Obi of Owa, Dr. Emmanuel Ifeizomor  II, at the end of their meeting held at his palace in Owa-Oyibu, Ika North East.

The traditional rulers condemned the  destructive and inciting statements against the state government by some notable politicians in the state, saying that instead of destroying the image of the state, such persons should join hands with the present administration to improve the infrastructural development of the state and the socio-economic wellbeing of Deltans.

The royal fathers urged Deltans and Nigerians in general to ignore statements aimed at inciting the people against government, describing such persons engaged in such acts as agents of destabilization who do not mean well for the state.

The traditional rulers passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his inspiring development efforts in the face of paucity of funds and urged him not to be distracted but remain focused in the execution of his prosperity agenda for all Deltans.

The monarchs emphasized the need for greater cooperation between the traditional institutions and the state government in order to foster peaceful co-existence among the diverse ethnic nationalities in the state. They advised all Deltans to refrain from bush burning and its disastrous consequences now that the dry season has set in.

They also urged the police and other security agents to enforce the ban on the use of fireworks during the Christmas celebration, adding that persons wanting to shoot cannon during burial ceremonies should obtain permission from their traditional rulers.
