Police DPO in Ondo dies in auto crash, son seriously injured

The Ondo state Police command has, Monday, announced the death of a Divisional Police Officer DPO, Mustapha Aminu in an auto crash.
Until his death, late Aminu was the acting DPO in charge of Yaba Police Division in Ondo town.
Vanguard gathered that the deceased who was travelling with members of his family died on the spot.
His son who was also in the Toyita Camry car was however lucky as he only sustained major injury.
Eyewitness account had it that the crash occurred on Ondo / Ore Expressway at Omifon area in the Odigbo Local Government area of the state
“The accident occurred at about 7pm on Sunday evening. The DPO‘s car somersaulted when he was travelling at Omifon area with his son and he died instantly.
“But the son survived the accident with injuries. He is currently at the hospital receiving treatment.”
The deceased was said to have been redeployed to the Yaba Police Division recently.
Police spokesman in the state, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, described the DPO’s death as a great loss to the command.
Joseph said the deceased as a diligent and discipline officer.
“The death of Mustapha came to us as a rude shock, we will greatly miss him in this command.”
