Man kills wife in Bayelsa

YENAGOA - Tragedy struck Sunday at riverside, town of Kaiama in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area when a man identified as Edwin Vincent, aged 24, attacked and killed his wife with a machete.
The incident, it was learned, occurred at about 8.30 am at the predominantly fishing settlement.
It could not be immediately ascertained why the man, a native of Uwheru in Ughelli North LGA of Delta State murdered his 21 year old wife, Joy Michael.
But community sources told Vanguard that the deceased was attacked and killed in the forest when she went on a fishing expedition.
Contacted, the police public relations officer, Mr. Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident.
His words, “On 5 November, 2017, at about 0830hrs, one Edwin Vincent ‘m’ 24 years, a native of Uwheru in Ughelli North LGA, Delta State, but residing at Boro Camp, Kaiama in Bayelsa State, attacked and killed his wife one Joy Michael, 21 years.
“The deceased, Joy Michael went fishing in a nearby bush with her neighbour, one Juliet Philip (female) when the husband attacked and killed her with a machete.
The suspect has been arrested and he has confessed to the crime. Investigation is on to ascertain the motive behind the murder.”
