Man, 33, faces trial for alleged misappropriation of company’s N1.3m
Kaduna – The police, on Friday, arraigned a 33-year-old man, Bright Nicholas, in a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Daura Road, Kaduna, for alleged misappropriation of a company’s N1.3 million.
Nicholas, a resident of Sabo Close Kabala West in Kaduna, is facing a three-count charge of criminal breach of trust, cheating and misappropriation.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Baba, told the court that Mrs Folashade Ojo of Ibrahim Biu Crescent Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna, reported the matter at the Ungwan Rimi Police Station on May 3.
Baba said sometime in Sept. 2017, the complainant employed the defendant as a marketing manager in her lotto company at Ungwan Rimi Kaduna and he made sales of tickets worth N1.3m, but converted the money to his personal use.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 296, 293 and 306 of the Penal Code Laws of Kaduna State.
The defendant, however, denied committing the offence.
The magistrate, Mrs Zainab Mohammed, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and must submit two recent passport photographs.
Mohammed adjourned the case until May 28 for hearing. (NAN)
