Lagos Trade Fair: Industrialisation major spring board to economic recovery — NPA
By Naomi Uzor
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), yesterday, said industriali-sation should be a major spring board to Nigeria’s economic recovery and should, in the medium and long term, provide an effective solution and remedy to national problems of mass unemployment, disease and poverty amongst others.
The Managing Director of NPA, Hadiza Usman, who stated this during the NPA special day at the ongoing Lagos International Trade Fair, added that the Maritime sector has continued to make its contributions to the nation’s economic growth, despite the challenges which they have continued to face in the industry and world trade.
Usman, who was represented by the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communication, Mr. Abdullah Goje, said in line with this, the NPA has continued to pursue programmes, policies and projects which they believe would enhance the performance of the nation’s seaports with a view to making them more efficient, customer friendly and competitive.
“The essence is to make our seaports preferred destinations in the West and Central African sub-regions and indeed Africa at large. Because of our sincere desire to make these targets realizable, management of the Authority has fully identified with the objectives of achieving the Federal Government’s directives and policy on ease of doing business in all our seaports” she said.
