YENAGOA- A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa state, Chief Abel Ebifemowei, who recently dumped the party for the Young Democratic Party, YDP, says his decision is hinged on the fact that he needs a party that truly identifies with the youths.

Ebifemowei, a former Special Adviser on Youths to the Bayelsa state Government and former chairman of the State Environmental Sanitation Authority, under the PDP, is a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before he joined the APC in 2015.

In a chat with newsmen in his office in Yenagoa yesterday, Chief Ebifemowei, said although the youths were prepared to take over political power, however, lamented that most of the leading political parties were not ready to give youths the opportunity to aspire to elective political positions by fielding youths as their party flag bearers.

He said: “Change is the only constant thing and we have seen founding fathers of PDP moved to APC and other political parties and vice versa, as we speak I am not in APC anymore, as a youth leader, I deemed it fit to give youths a platform to seek and aspire for political offices, and to do that I need to get a party for them and I believe that the YDP will offer the youths the best platform to realised their political aspiration and ambition.

“As the name implies with the coming of YDP, the light has come for our youths. I am here as the leader of the party to guide the youths, and so far I am impressed with the attitude of the youths in the state who have embraced the YDP wholeheartedly in the state; it shows that the youths are ready to rule come 2019, and when young people unite, they can achieve anything.”
