The Public Affairs Officer of United States Consulate Gene-ral, Lagos, Darcy Zotter, has signified readiness of the consulate to partner with Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, on academic exchange and research-related programmes, during a working visit to the university.
According to Zotter, due to FUTA’s pedigree, which recently culminated in the award of 2017/2018 FULBRIGHT Senior Research Scholarship on Dr. Folasade Olajuyigbe of FUTA’s Department of Biochemistry, the consulate would want a strengthened relationship with FUTA.
She also encouraged FUTA staff and students to participate in the Mandela Washington Fellowship.
Responding, FUTA’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape, commen-ded the consulate’s efforts at ensuring the advancement of academic and research-related efforts of the institution, noting that FUTA had institutio-nalised international collaborations.
He told Zotter that the fifth batch of FUTA students recently departed for Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, FAMU, USA, to complete their studies in fulfilment of the collaboration between both institutions.
