THE Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union, AUIU, is committed to working in tandem with the resolve of indigenes of the kingdom to live in unity and in harmony as one indivisible kingdom or community, dedicated to the promotion of peace, co-operation, understanding and development of the kingdom.

When it was birthed, the then monarch of the kingdom, late HRM Omamowho 1, was made the patron; while Mr. Uzoh became the pioneer President General with his other executives from the two sub-clans (Avbredjan and Okparegbe) that make up the Agbarho clan.

Founded on wisdom, equity and peace, by the people, for the people and of the people of Agbarho Kingdom at home and in Diaspora, the AUIU has since then, become known for its peaceful nature, good administration that has endeared her to neighboring kingdoms. This is because its administration is run in a manner that is devoid of internal quagmire and succession problems.  In fact, it has been a reference point for other peace loving communities and kingdoms in Urhobo nation and Delta State.

You can hardly mention names of respected and acclaimed sons and daughters in various fields of endeavours ranging from the business, academics, military, legal, governance e.t.c of Agbarho extraction that have not in one way or the other served the community through the AUIU either as a national officer, branch executive or at committee level.

The likes of late Justice Ovie-Whisky of blessed memory, late Chief Esiso, Rt. Hon Justice Akpiroroh (Rtd) Chief Gen O.E. Obada (Rtd) OON, Chief Brig. Gen. Dominic Oneya (Rtd), Professor Temi Akporhonor, Prof. Oghuvwu are few examples of eminent personalities that have served AUIU in various capacities.

The founding fathers of AUIU in their wisdom made adequate provisions of resolving dispute in the Constitution of the union through dialogue. Article I: Section (d) states that “A general meeting shall be an emergency meeting called and presided over by the President General to take important decisions, before the time fixed for an Annual Conference”.

Similarly, Section (e) emphasized that “A mass meeting shall be an emergency meeting called and presided over by the Ajuwe (Monarch) of Agbarho to take important decision before the time fixed for the Agbarho Annual Conference”.

It should be noted that there is no estoppel of the Monarch “Ajuwe” from the General meeting presided over by the President General because it is implied that the issue to be discussed warranting the General meeting is privy to the Monarch.

While the mass meeting presided over by the “Ajuwe”, the President General should be present, the truth and the facts still remain that the Secretary General of the Agbarho Urhobo Improvement Union acts as Secretary to the mass meeting.
