PDP chieftain lauds Gov Emmanuel for engaging indigenous contractors
By Emmanuel Ayungbe
UYO—A chieftain of People Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Uwem Okoko, has commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for engaging indigenous contractors in the execution of key projects in the state.
Okoko, who is the Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services Limited, said the governor’s decision to patronise indigenous contractors has created employment opportunities and discouraged capital flight.
“I commend the bold initiative of the state governor for engaging indigenous contractors in handling most of the road contracts in the state.
“Most of the roads constructed in the state are awarded by the state government to indigenous contractors who have performed according to specification. These have further created the much needed youth employment in the state as well as discouraging capital flight which had been the situation in the past,” he said.
“We are from this state, this is our government and our governor, the standard of work is to make him succeed. We are his supporters. Having seen his vision for the state as people oriented, as business men, we have no option than to key in and support him to succeed.
“Governor Emmanuel is a great leader who does not think about the next election, he thinks about the next generation of Akwa Ibom people. The massive infrastructural development is for the future generation of the people. His performance has qualified him for the second term. Our job as his faithful followers during the electioneering campaign will be very easy.”
