NANS gives FG 21 days ultimatum to resolve NBBF crisis

ABUJA- AS crisis continue to rock the Nigerian Basketball Federation, NBBF, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has given the Federal Government 21 days ultimatum to resolve the crisis.
This was contained in the address delivered by Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the National President, NANS, Comrade Godwin Erheriene, at a media conference held Monday in Abuja.
According to Erheriene the government can no longer sit and watch the crisis drawing back sports meant for the youth, despite giving over 68 per cent of their votes to President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 general election based on its over 8 million members, but unfortunately, are being neglected in the crisis.
He said: “Sequel to the series of press conference we have done forwarded to the general public for the government to hear our cry pertains the plight of Nigeria students who are into basketball game and intend to use it as their source of livelihood under the immediate watch of PMB lead administration and in this regard we are experiencing growing worries.
“It is so apparent at this juncture that Tijjani Umar, the then two term NBBF President is fighting the legitimate democratically elected President of NBBF, Ahmadu Musa Kida at the detriment of the entire Nation.
“We are using this medium to call on the Federal Government once again to put a stop to this lingering crisis rocking the NBBF because the future of our innocent Nigeria Students who are into this game is at stake.
“If this anomalies rocking the NBBF is not properly checkmate before November 30th given to NBBF by FIBA and a sanction is place on NBBF which Nigeria students will bear the major loss. The Federal Government should equally bear in mind that 2019 election is around the corner and they will need our vote/support to make them succeed in their endeavors.
“We are equally using this means to send a strong message to the Government to resolve this crisis rocking NBBF before the next 21 working days as the interest of our fellow Students is very paramount to us.”
