Enugu: Asadu alleges smear plots against him

No Rating

A member representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency of  Enugu State in the House of Representatives, Hon Patrick Asadu has alleged  fresh plots by desperate political office seekers to disparage his person.

Asadu, a medical doctor by profession, said he  has come under scathing attacks by some faceless groups and  persons who use the social media to spread hate speech and lies concocted to discredit him.

According to a statement issued yesterday  by his media adviser,“their mission is to mount a campaign of calumny aimed at  smearing his image, all in a bid to stop him from contesting  the 2019 general elections. Their latest plot  is to sustain the smear campaign and to verbally and  physically attack Asadu at political gatherings in the state  in order to create the erroneous impression that his constituents are vehemently opposed to his re-election bid.

“In a secret WhatsApp message to its  members which leaked Sunday, the masterminds of one anonymous group known as Nsukka Pathfinders called on their members to employ various tactics to achieve their goal.

“In addition to the plan to physically assault the House of Representatives member, the group also called for an “open confrontation on Asadu by shouting him down at all public functions.   The  other move is  to pay money to some unsuspecting rural dwellers and send  them to Government House, Enugu as protesters against Asadu from the two local government areas.”
