The council’s chairman, Imam Salman Adam, made this call in the group’s Eid-El-Kabir message to Nigerians on Friday in Lokoja.

Adam called on politicians to put aside their political differences and join hands with the president in evolving strategies and measures that would bring about economic recovery.

The group also advised Nigerians not to leave the fight against corruption to the president alone.

“All hands must be on deck to tackle the menace,’’ the group said in the statement.

It urged the leaders and the following alike, to fear God and be conscious of the day of judgment when everyone would give account of his or her deeds on earth.

The council cautioned youths against crime and criminality and enjoined them to embrace agriculture as well as learn vocational skills for self reliance.

According to him, entrepreneurship will create room for self-employment and make them become employers of labour instead of applicants for non-vacant positions.

“We enjoined Muslims to imbibe the virtues of obedience and loyalty to Allah and constituted authorities, as exemplified by both Prophet Ibrahim and his son, Ismail.

“The council congratulates Gov. Yahaya Bello of the state on the 26th anniversary of the creation of Kogi and we laud his efforts at re-positioning the state”. (NAN)
