Eid el-Kabir, Ember months: AIG Zone 5 demands robust policing
By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—In continuation of efforts to ensure that the Eid el-Kabir celebration is hitch free and also for the beginning of the ember months, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Benin, Mr. Abubakar Muhammed, has directed Commissioners of Police in the zone to adopt robust crime-prevention strategies throughout the ember months.
He also directed the Police Commissioners in the zone, which include Beyelsa, Delta and Edo states, to ensure community policing and partnership to ensure that crime and criminality are reduced to the barest minimum in line with democratic policing.
The AIG, in a statement by Mr. Emeka Iheanacho, Zone 5 Police Public Relations Officer, in Benin, the Edo State capital, expressed gratitude to the public and its strategic partners in crime prevention and control for their continued support.
He charged the Commissioners to ensure a hitch-free Sallah in the zone by beefing up securities in and around their commands, mostly at worship centres such as Churches and Mosques, recreation centres, cinema halls, radio and television stations as well as linking roads and vulnerable flashpoints.
