All is not well with Team Nigeria wrestlers who have been doing the country proud at various international meets following the indifference to their welfare by the Youth and Sports Ministry which has failed to pay them accumulated allowances for various African and international wrestling championships.

Only last week (February 23rd, 2018 ) the wrestlers led by their male and female team captains, Amas Daniel and Blessing Oborodudu served the Sports Ministry, through its Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, a notice of boycott to next month’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia if all their allowances are not paid.

The wrestlers gave the Sports Ministry up till the first week of March 2018 to pay them their outstanding allowances failing which they will embark on a total boycott after their meeting with the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports ended in a deadlock.

Sports Vanguard gathered that the Minister of sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Tuesday met behind closed door with the president of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali.
